Different from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed therapists can recognize and view trauma-related behaviors as an individual’s best and most resilient attempt to manage, cope with, and rise above his, her or their experience of trauma—and not merely or even necessarily through a Western pathological or diagnostic perspective.
