  1. With the right guidance, holotropic breathwork can truly shift you. I experienced it for the first time in a safe retreat setting with professional guidance and the process surprised me. You keep up a rhythm of breath that once you reach a certain point, your body gets impacted and your consciousness expands. It takes work to keep the breath going but it helps to remember you are in control the whole time. In my experiences, I was concerned for my anxiety but that is why it’s important to be with a proper guide. I get tente in my hands and face, which means that your muscles involuntarily contract due to overly stimulated peripheral nerves. Some call it “the claw” and it’s normal and simply a part of the process. My most recent experience was very expansive, emotionally, mentally and physically. We can positively impact our minds and bodies so much more than we realize and this is a very cool way to experience that “out of mind and body” feeling without taking substances. Recommended only in the care of a professional holotropic breathwork guide.
